- Q >>I see some of my classmates making drawings and cooking eggs, and even
making them seem "fake". While it all seems fun and creative, I thought
the point was about the lighting. I checked the assignement
requirements and I'm just a bit confused. One
of my classmates said you are really consered about the creativity, not
so much about the lighting, which confused me a bit as you might
understand. Can you please clear things up a bit for me, thank you so
much.
A I am looking for creative use of light (and composition, and appropriate exposure, as a given as is good camera technique- like subject sharpness).
Through the light source selection-natural or artificial- it's direction, and "qualities" like "hard or soft" and color, and
then using the other creative tools of lens focal length, distance and
angle of the camera to the subject, f/stop and shutter, the selection
of what's included in the frame. Also consider the relation of subject
it's background- does the bg add meaning or mood to
the simple eggs? That said, I am always looking for creative solutions
to the assignments only IF THEY WORK!
I suspect that the drawings you have seen relate to the common
designer's practice of thumb-nailing idea options, a practice I endorse.
If the drawings are the end result however, I will have to consider how
successfully the RAW files illustrate the intent. I am not looking for heavy Photoshop artwork, unless it is provided in an add-on. "First, here's what you asked for... but this additional psd folder has some designs I derived from the RAW images and I am excited for you to look," then I would consider that aspect in addition to the parameters above.
